[Singles] Nicodxmvs’ Four New Tracks

In the last month, San Antonio artist Nicodxmvs has released four songs. Tagging them as ‘trance’ and ‘triphop’, the electrified pieces are equal parts cinematic and haunted. Industrial and ambient. Transcendental.

After dropping two instrumental tracks, “Self-Affirmation” and “Emotional Intelligence”, he followed with the hypnotizing number, “Compassion” with vocalist Grapefruit. The song is described as “a new understanding.”

His newest track is “Forgive”, which is his first offering with vocals, showcasing a new element for the multitalented musician. While we still bump Nicodxvms and Western Tink’s 2016 album, Isolation, as well as his solo album, Fall From Grace, it’s great to see a slew of new tracks from the Texas artist. Candy Drips hopes for much more to come.

[Singles] Kent Loon & Chester Watson

In the last month, rapper Kent Loon has released two new tracks. First, he dropped the single ‘Drone.’ Produced by Psychedelic Ensemble, the thumping number quakes through the speakers. “Drone” was followed up with “Chessmaster”, a collaborative track between Loon and Chester Watson that demands a high speed drive. The two have plenty more around the corner, but these singles should hold you over for the time being.

[Singles] Catching up with tnght/tmrw

Dallas producer tnght/tmrw has been holding my attention since he was in the duo OurSkeletonBones. After making the switch to solo music, he has continued to impress with his late night grooves: a blend of lush instrumentals and autotuned cruisers. Most recently, he produced for vocalist FlexinFab on the single “Everything U Do”.

The lively track was preceded by the single “Duality.” It’s a 2-and-a-half minute instrumental that takes to the clouds, orbits the globe, and comes back down for a truly cosmic experience. An atmospheric body trip, the wordless single demands more than one listen.

Prior to “Duality’, tnght/tmrw released a booming edit to Pinks’s 2000 track “Most Girls.” Loose instrumentals, exclusive singles, and Pink remixes? Yes, it all works within the world of the eclectic producer. The fourth and final piece that he’s released this calendar year is “Facetime”, where he spotlights both his production skills and his vocal skills, making it perhaps my favorite of this high quality bunch. Press play and lose your head for a day.

[Singles] Catching up with BB Sun

One month ago, one of our favorite MCs BB Sun released the three song EP, Sketch Money Sunny. Lofi and drowsy, BB Sun rhymes over soulful and jazzed out production, sounding like a vintage cassette tape and a bag of grass.

Since releasing these three pieces, BB Sun has gone on to drop the loose single “Shopping” (produced by Khrist Koopa) as well as the track “Superhot” which comes produced by BSBD member Televangel. It’s a clouded affair, one that we’re front row for.

All of these tracks clock in under two minutes and are worth your while. Like infomercials, like snippets, like leveling up after burning down an ounce of spinach.

[Singles] Souly Had x Purpdogg

It’s time to get caught up with the work between producer Purpdogg and vocalist Souly Had. The two have released a batch of track in the last half year, spanning between hip-hop and R&B. “Sandman” cleverly flips the famous bubblegum pop track, while their newest, “Young and Dumb”, is a bar-heavy love narrative. Don’t sleep on these two.

[Singles] Catching up with BB Sun

BB SUN has released a batch of tracks in the last few weeks and they’re all worth your while. With two tracks featuring Nedarb (one of which is a Lil Peep tribute), all five of the songs demand your time. The most recent is the heavy “Air it Out” with Antwon and Martin Unruly while a personal favorite is “Rental Car” which feels like a clouded night journey. UDF.
