[Mixtape] Vela Seff – Up in Smoke, Vol. 2

Chicago-based rapper and producer Vela Seff released a mixtape on Christmas day known as Up in Smoke, Vol. 2. It’s a high powered sequel to his five song EP, Up in Smoke, Vol. 1, which dropped early last year. With his own production on two tracks, the new project also features Sick Sad World affiliates Nancy and Tombo, as well as plenty more.

[Video] Mick Jenkins – Padded Locks and Barcelona

While we anticipate Mick Jenkins’ upcoming sophomore album, Pieces of a Man, scheduled to release this upcoming Friday, he let loose two singles. They’re linked together in the same music video while also being made available separately over on all streaming services. The kicker is that the track “Padded Locks” features the legendary Ghostface Killah. Don’t sleep.

[Single] Open Mike Eagle x Nedarb – Relatable

LA-based MC Open Mike Eagle linked up with producer Nedarb (a familiar name around these parts) for the loose track ‘Relatable’. The track arrived alongside the announcement of Eagle’s new label, Autoreverse Records, so look out for much more from that new venture.

Lastly, be sure to check out Open Mike Eagle in November as he tours through the West Coast and down in Texas and Arizona. Dates can be found here.

[Single] Q the Sun and Kane – Wide Awake

Milwaukee producer Q the Sun has had a great year. He’s produced for Lorde Fredd33, Milo, and WebsterX. Now, stepping into solo territory, he enlists vocalist Kane for the loose track “Wide Awake”. Spin it back three times over and wait for Q to drop some more bumps in the form of Afterain Part 2. You can listen to the first one below.

[EP] Bari – The Prefix

St. Louis rapper Bari gave the world a taste of things to come with a three song EP known as The Prefix. The first two are solo tracks produced by Monte Booker while the final track features Smino (who also handled the beat). It’s a short and sweet project, one to hold our attention until something larger arrives from the talented rapper.

[Single] Supa Bwe and Dounia – Entropy

Chicago’s Supa Bwe is a man of many styles. From in-your-face aggression to atmospheric reflection, his tracks are always a mystery until pressing play. His newest single, “Entropy”, falls into the latter category (see: up in the sky) and comes complete with a feature from Dounia and production from Shepard Sounds. Press play and feel this one wrap you whole.

[Singles] Two Loose Tracks from Lucki

Lucki is preparing Freewave 3, and as an appetizer, two of his frequent collaborators let loose two singles. First is “Night” produced by 16yrold and second is “I Need More” produced by Plu2o Nash. Both tracks are spaced out, dazed, lost in the clouds. Everything you need for the middle of October, unless Lucki delivers with his next project.
